Global Young Leaders Tourism Camp 2016 in South Korea

Hi there!
After a long time I finally have motivation to write again HAHA, but life's been pretty busy now so I got my excuses :p

So on today's post I'm going to tell everythingggg about my previous trip to South Korea as a delegate from Indonesia for an government based event called Global Young Leaders Tourism Camp held by Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korean Tourism Organization (KTO).

The event was held from July 19th - August 2nd 2016, about 3 weeks long!
**But all the delegates arrived in July 18th and went back to our countries in August 3rd**

I'm going to explain in order and as clear as possible for those who are curious or YOU who will be applying for this program next year! :)

FYI I also made a youtube video and it hit 21k views already!

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ :

1. How to apply?
You have to find out about the program through Korean Tourism Organization in your country (I dont know if your country has it or not, but what I know for sure is they do have a branch in Indonesia).
The process started from applying - selection by CV - interview - then announcement!
For me, it wasn't very hard to apply because I got the information from my university, Trisakti School of Tourism (the best in the country for tourism!!) that has a good relationship with KTO Indonesia.
KTO selected 3 people from our uni to be the delegates representing Indonesia.

2. How much is application fee?
FREE!
Yes, very hard to believe right? I didnt spend a single penny to apply.
Visa, flight tikets, accomodation, full board meals, stationary, FREE IPHONE (we had to return it in the last day, but still awesome!) and EVEN ALLOWANCE on free days group program!

3. What's the schedule?
It will take forever if I write every singple thing I did there, because it was a really tight schdule full of lectures, workshop, leadership training and visitation to tourism objects. But overall, here I attach the schedule list!

For me, the highlight of this program were : (List from most favorite to least favorite)

1. Lecture about Tourism in South Korea
My favorite topic was about Alternative Tourism Depending on Seasons and Understanding Hallyu Culture. Most of lectures' english were great!

2. Country presentation
Each country was given 10 minutes to presentate their pride in tourism! It was a great opportunity for Indonesia to shine :D and was a great way for me to learn about other countries' amazing tourism as well.

3. Visitation to tourism object
YASSSSS. The most anticipated activity in our program hahaha :D
In total, we visited over than 20 tourism objects and all of it was mindblowingly good! We even learnt how to use drone :O
But there were some activities that I CANT FORGET for my whole life and here's some pictures!!

Note : picture doesnt go in order
Calligraphy made by me :D
Mulle Gil
Excited to watch Winter Olympics 2018!!
Before we do our country presentation! (Fiona - Cindy - Fadhila)
We  wore Hanbok the whole day!! Was really sweaty and itchy. But we looked like royals so...worth it ;)
Probably the  most famous actor in South Korea, his face was everywhere!
JEJUUU OLLEE

Padlocks in Nam Sam Tower, hung by couples who probably have broken up by now

Picture with Psy
GDragonnnn :""")
This one is realllllllll!!
HAHAHA enough with the picture, I still have like 1000 pictures to show youuu :> too bad cant upload it all in hereee

moving on...

4. FOODDDDD!!!
Literally, they gave us the best food everrr, everything was good. Except for flower bibimbab, they could've give us the regular bibimbab instead hmm..
**
I didnt even took picture of most of the good food because I was very excited to eat, I forgot to take pictures TEEHEE
Korean fried chicken 5000 Won
Flower Bibimbab, not good :( too pretty though

Bingsu with real mangoooo 8000 Won

Buffet in Shangrila Jeju. Fruit was weird and watery
Jjamppong in China Town, the most famous one but I forgot the restaurant name haha
Fish cake with rice cake inside 1000 Won
SUPER GOOODDD
4. Who were the participants?
Total 13 countries participated (South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia, Myanmar, Uzbekistan, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh)
The total participants were 54 people (if I'm not mistaken hehe)

5. How about free time?
Well, if you want to join this program to enjoy free time....THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT PROGRAM FOR YOU.
Yep, during those 3 weeks we had in total 3 days of free time BUT HOWEVER it didnt count as free time because we had to go with our group anytime anywhere and we had to do analysis report in the end of the day.
How about first day and last day where we didnt have schedule yet? In the first day I did get around 3 hours of free time and went outside near the Konkuk University. Last day we arrived in the hotel late at night and left to Indonesia early morning, so yeah no free time..
What do you expect...but it was still SO MUCH FUN :D

6. Who made this program?
Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korean Tourism Organization came up with the idea and with the help of Red Cap Tour they made this program happened.
How about Konkook / Konkuk University? Nope, they didnt have anything to do with this program, but we stayed in their dormitories and most of the activities took place there.

7. What's your thoughts during the program?
I was blown away by how organized this program, how much money and effort they put in to make this happen. Since day 1, there were nothing to complain about! Except for the very tight schedule, woke up every morning to have breakfast at 7 AM and we always ended our program of the day at around 10 PM minimum! We even slept at 3 AM one day to do all of our assignments and group projects. But I guess you cant really complain about that since it was the reason why we joined this program for. Now I miss those moments walking like zombies trying to stay awake during programs!

Scuba Diving in Pramuka Island !!

Yepppp another getaway trip on weekend from January 30th-31st 2016, this time it's Pramuka Island!
The island is one of MANY islands in the Seribu (en: Thousand) Archipelago located in the north of Jakarta province. In fact, it's still included as one of 6 regions of Jakarta. Still have no clue where it is? Check out this map below

This time around, the trip was organized by my lovelies from Trisakti Diving Club, the 18th generation of the Club ; Leather Back Turtle. (Im in the 17th generation ; Manta Ray)

**fyi : every generation has their own name (howdy!)

OKAY, continue to the story...

We woke up very early in the morning and get to Kali Adem harbour to get to Pramuka Island. Took us around 3 hours to finally arrive at the island, had lunch and got ready to dive. It was not my first time there, in fact it was my 4th time visiting Pramuka Island (HAHA, yep not only me but the entire club visits the Seribu Archipelago quite often). But it was my first time diving in the 2 spots we dived later.

Our 1st dive spot was the Tabularasa / Napoleon wreck ship :
- The visibility was only about 2 meters, it was blurry af!
- The current was ok.
- It was 27 meters deep
- Lots of big fishes and schooling fish welcoming us

Then we moved to our 2nd dive spot after roughly about an hour doing surface interval.

2nd dive spot was The Dome :
- Visibility was better than the first dive
- No Current
- It was only about 18 - 20 meters deep
- An abandoned coral site with lots of soft corals, puffer fish, bat fish, lots of anemon and clown fish too!

Overall it was pwetty awesomee eventhough my gopro housing leaked water AGAIN! ;'(

But I still managed to have great shots of me diving because I was diving close to my instructor who brought camera along. YEP! Everytime I dive, Im always in the front, so if the instructor sees something, I will quickly see it too, ehey.
* No video for this trip, my gopro sucked.
BUT HERES SOME AHMAZING PICTURES, ENJOY AND THANKS FOR READING
xoxo

Having fun during Suface Interval
Madness of the 2nd shift
My bouyancy is getting better and better
My instructor was capturing the nemo family then suddenly I came out of nowhere hehe
Into the dome!
Super happpaaayyy
2 of us left our buddies behind ahaha, but we still kept an eye for them doe! Never leave your buddy, seriously.
Lips looked hella weird after using regulator for quite some time
A nudie branch found, it was super tiny!

Christmas Holidae 2015 (Semarang - Karimun Jawa - Yogyakarta )

Took me a reaaaaally long time to finally write this post, right after this holiday I had my final exams,. Well here I am finally writing this down on my labtop while watching How I Met Your Mother.

So for my Christmas holiday, I went to couple cool places with my mom, little sister, Riandi and some friends. Lets start from the first destination ;

SEMARANG, CENTRAL JAVA

DAY 1 ( Jakarta - Semarang) 22 Dec
I purchased my train tickets 2 months before and after that I asked my friends to join me to Karimun Jawa and 5 of my friends decided to go too (Alia, Putu, Rafa, Sena, Venco). They all bought their tickets later, so my seat and their seats were not next to each other.

Our train departed from Senen Train Station at 11 PM and arrived in Poncol Train Station at 6 PM. Then we took an angkot (some kind of a public transportation) to our hotel which was Pelangi Indah Hotel. We simply stayed there because the price was pocket-friendly. Then we checked-in and got rest until at about 11 AM. Then with our hungry tummies, we went out to search for authentic Semarang food by taxis. It was raining as we went to Lumpia Gang Lombok (famous springrolls) and right next to it was a noodle (totally forgot the name) but it was also very popular.

Then 7 of us went sightseeing by a traditional tricycle to Lawang Sewu (a historical building with thousands of doors) and then Rafa, Sena and Alia decided to go back to the hotel, while the rest of us continued our journey by taxi to Sam Po Kong (a Buddhist temple) and finally we went to Avalokitesvara Pagoda by bus (it was quite far). Then we had dinner in a Bangkong Soto restaurant (again, a traditional cuisine of Semarang).

Then we went back to the hotel..

Lawang Sewu
Sam Po Kong
Alokistesvara Pagoda
meet Dian!! :)
So at night I met Dian, she was my friend through the Tourist Industry National Competition in 2013. She's originally from Semarang and she is happily married now btw, CONGRATS DI! Hope to see you soon xxo

DAY 2 (Semarang - Karimun Jawa) 23 Dec
We woke up at 2 AM in the morning and went to Jepara city by a chartered car for 2 hours. Then we arrived at the Kartini Harbour and bought 9 ferry tickets to sail to Karimun Jawa Island. Yep my mom and little sister joined us too that day.

It took us 5 freaking hours to finally get to Karimun Jawa, daymm it was far!

Then we went to our guest house by car. Well it turned out that the electricity only worked at 6 PM - 6 AM. So basically. Then we went out to have lunch and took pictures in the pier.

Then we went to Joko Tuwo Hill to witness the beautiful sunset. And we had an amazing seafood fiesta for dinner, daymm it was yummy!

Karimun Jawa Bound!

DAY 3 (Karimun Jawa) 24 Dec
The day that we all have been waiting forrrr. We woke up early and got breakfast. Then we went out to have a full day snorkeling program around the other islands.

First we visited Gosong Island, then snorkeling in Cilik Island and also had lunch at the same island. It rained hard for a bit, we literally saw the rain coming through pass us. Then we went snorkeling again (dont know the spot name) and lastly we went to a Shark conservation.

I was on my period and I went in with the sharks to take pictures, Thank God those sharks didnt bite my legs off hahaha

DAY 4 (Karimun Jawa - Sragen) 25 Dec
We went back to the harbour to get to Yogyakarta (originally) but there wasnt any bus at that time, so we went to Semarang and then to Sragen. It was hectic and tiring.
First Putu and Alia took the fast boat because they were both had train schedule back to Jakarta at 10 PM.
Then the rest of us went back to Jepara by ferry and it took us 4 and half hours.
Then Rafa and Sena went to Semarang by a shuttle bus. While me, Amel, mom, Riandi and Venco went to Semarang too and headed to Yogya, but yep the people there werent very helpful and we decided to just went to Sragen to take rest. While we parted with Venco because he was heading to his aunt's house in Yogya.
Me, Amel, mom and Riandi arrived at 1 freaking AM!

DAY 5 (Sragen - Yogyakarta) 26 Dec
We went to Yogyakarta by my car. It was right on Christmas day so the road was quite full. We reached our destination which was Ringgo's house in 4 hours. It wasnt traffic that slowed us down, it was because there were ridiculously a lot of red lights along our way! Then after we arrived, we met with Ringgo and Cinyu. We went out to eat Yu Djum Gudeg for dinner and headed to Malioboro street before we finally went back home.

DAY 6 (Yogyakarta) 27 Dec
We picked up Rafa and Sena along our way and went to Pine Tree Forest, then to Parang Tritis Beach and finally to the most fun place evaaaa the Sand Dune / Gumuk Pasir. Then we went to Kalimilk to have dinnaah.

Full Team! Cinyu with stripes shirt and Ringgo is the guy in the middle

It was FFFFUUUNNNNNNN
DAY 7 (Yogyakarta) 28 Dec
We didnt go anywhere far because Ringgo's relative was sick and he had to go to the hospital. And my mom went home by bus because she was still thinking about work work and work. Then at noon, we went to a stable and tried to ride horses!

Riding King Speedy
DAY 8 (Yogyakarta) 29 Dec
Another exciting dayyyyy! We went to Wediombo Beach and Timang Beach today and it was hella fun. But right before we were about to leave, we were looking for Rafa and Sena that were nowhere to be found, we were in panic mode. After about 30 minutes, Thank God they showed up. Then we went to have dinner and got back home..

DAY 9 (Yogyakarta) 30 Dec
Before we went to another destination, we went to pick up Venco because he wanted to join us. Then we went to Kalibiru and Kedung Pedut waterfall, both located near by each other and we saw some of the greatest view Ive ever seen in my laiyfeee. Well, it was my second time in Kalibiru so I didnt take any pictures..

It was colddd

DAY 10 (Yogyakarta) 31 Dec
We woke up super early in the morning to witness the sunrise in Kaliurang. So we woke up at 4 AM and Rafa Sena didnt join us because they were waiting for their friends and Amel decided to not go because she was sleepy. So there were only me, Riandi, Cinyu, Venco and Ringgo. We went by a motorcycle and then walked our way closer to the mountain. We also visited Tumpeng Rock, Mbah Maridjan Memorial Museum and the Earthquake Memorial Museum. Then we went back home and took rest. Then we went out to celebrate New Years Eve. But it wasnt very fun because we were not in a very crowded place :( what a pity

Such beauty
Tumpeng Rock (the last time I went here, the Merapi Mt. cant be seen)

Sorry guise for being all cuddly and stuff ehey

DAY 11 (Yogyakarta - Jakarta) 01 Jan
It was our last day. We woke up and bid farewell to Rafa, Sena and Ringgo as they were going back by bus the next day. Me, Amel, Riandi, Cinyu and Venco headed to Solo Airport. On our way, we had a balinese suckling pig for lunch (damn it was yummy!) and then we continued driving to Solo. The road was empty as if the road was ours. It only took us an hour and half. Because we arrived wayyy to early, we went to Solo Square Mall and then to the airport. Riandi and Cinyu departed first then me and Venco flew a couple hours after them. And Amel was left alone in the airport waiting for mom to pick her up.

And that was how my holiday started and ended. It was fun and full of laughthers. Thanks friends, looking forward to the next journey together!!
